No. Grand Theft Auto VI is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has never listed a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version, and there is no upgrade path from the older consoles.

The official platform list
Rockstar's own game page carries two platforms and no others: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. See rockstargames.com/VI.
The support article Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions says the same, and lists no other console.
This has not changed once since the announcement. Trailer 1 in December 2023 named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and both delay posts, May 2025 and November 2025, moved the date without adding a platform.
A last generation version is not merely unannounced. Rockstar has published a platform list, twice, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not on it. Treat any site offering a PS4 release date as making it up.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have said about why
Rockstar has published no reason. It states the platforms and stops there, and we will not invent an explanation on its behalf.
Take-Two's chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, has explained the console first decision in terms of audience rather than hardware. As PC Gamer and GamesRadar both reported it: "Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core."
That comment was about PC. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has said anything at all about PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Everything else you will read on the subject, including the obvious guesses about memory and streaming an open world off an old hard drive, is guesswork. It may well be right. It is still guesswork, so it is not on this page.
What you need

Rockstar also labels the game "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" on its own page and points to playstation.com/GTAVIfeatures for the PlayStation specific benefits. Rockstar does not say what that label covers in technical terms, so neither do we.
For what is inside each edition, see GTA 6 Ultimate Edition and the mod shop. For unlock times, see GTA 6 release time by region.
PC status
A PC version is not announced, and Rockstar's history suggests a wait rather than a launch day release: see the PC gap on our mods page, and what Take-Two has said about PC.
