Is GTA 6 on Switch 2?

No Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto VI is announced. Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has named Nintendo's console for this game.

What Rockstar and Take-Two list

Rockstar's own game page carries two platforms and no others: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The support article Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions lists no other console. The list has not changed since Trailer 1 in December 2023, and both delay posts, in May 2025 and November 2025, moved the date without adding a platform.

Take-Two's own release table says the same. Its earnings release of 7 August 2026 lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. In the same table, NBA 2K27 is listed with Switch 2 among its platforms. Grand Theft Auto VI is not.

What Take-Two has said about Nintendo's console

Strauss Zelnick is the chief executive of Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company. We found no on-the-record remark by him, or by Rockstar, that names Grand Theft Auto VI and Switch 2 together. Two remarks are close, and neither is about this game.

On Take-Two's earnings call in February 2025, he spoke about Nintendo's next console in general terms. Video Games Chronicle quoted him on 7 February 2025: "We've had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo. We've supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release." Nintendo Life reported the same remark the same day. Neither report quotes him on Grand Theft Auto.

On 28 May 2026, The Game Business asked Zelnick again about console price rises, saying that PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 had both had them. Take-Two's chief financial officer, Lainie Goldstein, added: "We do think GTA 6 will drive console sales." She did not say which consoles.

A general willingness to support a platform is not an announcement. It names no game, no year and no date.

Rockstar games on Switch and Switch 2

These are other games, listed as sourced fact. None is evidence about Grand Theft Auto VI.

Video Games Chronicle also noted on 7 February 2025 that Take-Two had never released Grand Theft Auto V on Switch. That is the record for other games. It does not say what Rockstar will do with VI.

What we do not know yet

Rockstar and Take-Two have not said whether a Nintendo version of Grand Theft Auto VI is in development, planned or ruled out. No release date, price or performance target for one has come from either company. Any date you see for a Switch 2 version has not come from Rockstar, and we do not repeat it.

The same applies to other platforms: see is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One, the GTA 6 PC release date, GTA 6 on Xbox Series S and GTA 6 on PS5 Pro. Every claim we have checked is on the GTA 6 fact check.
