What is confirmed for GTA VI

Rockstar's game page lists two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, under the launch date of 19 November 2026. It does not list PC, and it does not mention cheats. Rockstar's support article Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions names the same two platforms.

Take-Two's chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, has said "Rockstar always starts on console", as PC Gamer and GamesRadar reported on 4 May 2026. He gave no PC version and no date. The full record is on GTA 6 PC release date.

What GTA V did on PC

This section is about Grand Theft Auto V, not VI. None of it is confirmed for VI.

GTA V came to PC on 14 April 2015, after its first console release on 17 September 2013. On PC, cheats were words. The Grand Theft Auto Wiki says they were activated by typing into an input bar opened with the tilde key, and that the controller button combinations still worked for anyone playing with a controller (Grand Theft Auto Wiki).

PCGamesN gives the same method. Press the key to the left of 1 on the keyboard, which shows as a ¬ on UK layouts and a ~ on US layouts, then type the cheat. As one example, its guide lists PAINKILLER as the typed word for invincibility, and notes that the effect lasted only five minutes (PCGamesN).

The rules matched the consoles. PCGamesN states that none of the cheats work in GTA Online. The Grand Theft Auto Wiki says activating a cheat disabled achievements, trophies and accomplishments for the rest of the game session. Those two rules have their own pages: GTA 6 cheats online and do GTA 6 cheats disable trophies.

Trainers and mod menus are not cheat codes

Still GTA V. A cheat code is part of the game, and the game reads it. A trainer is a separate mod that a player installs. PCGamesN's mod guide calls Native Trainer an optional file that makes many GTA V cheats easy to switch on, and says most of the more complex mods need Script Hook V (PCGamesN, updated 9 April 2026).

Rockstar's position is in its Mod Guidelines of 10 September 2026. They tell people not to create, share or use cheat menus or other software that interferes with Rockstar's official multiplayer, online services or licensed Creator Platform. They do not mention Grand Theft Auto VI. PCGamesN warns that playing GTA Online with mods installed risks a ban on suspicion of cheating (PCGamesN).

So a file sold as a "GTA 6 PC trainer" cannot work with a game that has no PC version. If a PC version ever ships, a trainer would still be third-party software. It would not be a cheat code from Rockstar. More on mods is at will GTA 6 have mods.

What is not known

Rockstar and Take-Two have not said whether a PC version exists, when it would arrive, or whether Grand Theft Auto VI has cheat codes at all. If it does, how they would be entered on PC is also not known. For the two platforms that are listed, see GTA 6 cheats for PS5 and GTA 6 cheats for Xbox Series X|S.
