GTA 6 PC release date: not announced

There is no PC release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, because Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version at all: it lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, from 19 November 2026.

What Rockstar lists

Two platforms. Rockstar's own game page shows PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S under the 19 November 2026 date, and nothing else.

Rockstar's support article Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions, last updated 18 August 2026, answers the platform question in one line: the game can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its Newswire post of 27 August 2026, for An Extended Look, repeats the same two platforms.

So a PC date is not late or hidden. There is no PC version to date.

What Take-Two's chief executive has said

Strauss Zelnick runs Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company. Two of his comments this year are on the record in the gaming press. Neither announced a PC version or a date.

In May, in a Bloomberg interview reported by PC Gamer and GamesRadar on 4 May 2026, he explained the console first launch like this: "Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core."

He went on: "Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn't there, if they're not served first and best, you kind of don't hit your other consumers." Asked whether a marketing deal with Sony was the reason, GamesRadar reports his answer as "No", adding that "historically Rockstar's gone to console first".

In the same interview he said PC used to be a small share of Take-Two's sales and no longer is: "Now with regard to a big title, PC can be 45, 50% of the sales."

In September, at Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on 17 September 2026, a shareholder asked whether a shortage of PS5 Pro consoles was changing its PC plans. As GamesRadar and PC Gamer reported it, Zelnick said the company's strategy over time is generally "to launch for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience", and that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time".

That is a general strategy, not an announcement. He did not name a PC version of VI, a year or a date.

History, not a prediction

Rockstar's last two big releases both reached PC after console. These are the dates Rockstar itself published at the time.

GTA V is the odd one. It reached PC just under five months after its second round of console releases, and 19 months after its first. Red Dead Redemption 2 had one console launch, then PC a year later.

What this means for mods and cheats

Grand Theft Auto mods have been a PC matter, so with no PC version there is nothing for a mod to attach to at launch. Rockstar's current mod guidelines are on our mods page. Our GTA 6 cheats page tracks PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and marks PC as not announced.

What we do not know yet

Rockstar and Take-Two have not said whether a PC version is in development, when it would arrive, which PC stores would sell it, or what hardware it would need. Nobody official has said whether progress would carry across from console. Until one of them does, every one of those answers is a guess.
