No. Rockstar has never mentioned crossplay for Grand Theft Auto VI, and the game launches as a single-player experience, so at launch there is nothing to play across platforms.

What Rockstar has said
Two things, and only two things, are established.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are the only platforms on Rockstar's own game page and in the support article Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions. There is no PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC version: see is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One.
Rockstar describes the game as a single player experience, in its own words. The pre-order Newswire post of 24 June 2026 says "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S". Variety reported the single player point the same day, alongside the prices.
Neither the game page, nor the support articles, nor the pre-order Newswire post uses the word crossplay, cross-play or cross-platform. There is no official statement to report, in either direction.
Crossplay is a multiplayer feature. It describes players on different platforms sharing one session. A single-player game has no session to share, so the question only becomes real if and when Rockstar ships an online mode for VI.
What crossplay would actually apply to
A future online mode, and nothing else.
Rockstar has not announced an online mode for Grand Theft Auto VI. No name, no date, no description. Anything you read about GTA Online 2 is expectation, not announcement.
The one place Rockstar does mention GTA Online in its VI material is the pre-order bonus. Rockstar's editions panel offers a free month of GTA+, described as "a recurring monthly GTA$500,000 deposit into your GTA Online character's bank account". That is the existing GTA Online in Grand Theft Auto V, not a VI mode. See the Rockstar support article on redeeming it.
What GTA Online on V did
It kept platforms apart, for almost thirteen years.
Rockstar support states that cross-network play in GTA Online "only applies to gameplay between PC platforms (Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, Epic Games Launcher, the Xbox app on PC, etc.)" and that "players on PC cannot play with players on console". See Unable to enter Grand Theft Auto Online on the Xbox app on PC, which is the article that carries that wording.
Progress does not cross either. Rockstar allowed a one way migration from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One up to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, but states that "profiles cannot be migrated between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S or from PlayStation or Xbox console families to PC". See Grand Theft Auto Online Character Transfers and the migration article.
So the only precedent Rockstar has set in Grand Theft Auto multiplayer is platform separation, with a narrow exception between PC storefronts. That is a fact about GTA V. It is not a prediction about VI, and we will not present it as one.
What to watch for
Three sources will carry the answer first, in this order.
- The Rockstar Newswire, where every date change and every launch detail for VI has been posted so far.
- The Grand Theft Auto VI support hub, which is where Rockstar publishes platform, edition and feature detail.
- The store listings on PlayStation and Xbox, which carry the multiplayer feature tags that storefronts require.
If a Rockstar page ever names crossplay for VI, this page changes the same day and says where the wording came from. Until then the honest answer is that the question has not been asked of a game that has an online mode.
Dated milestones so far, and the launch clock, are on the countdown page.
