Do GTA 6 cheats work online?

Nobody can say yet. Rockstar calls Grand Theft Auto VI a single player experience, and the pages we checked mention neither an online mode nor cheats. In Grand Theft Auto V, the cheat codes did not work in GTA Online.

Checked 2 October 2026. We update this page when Rockstar publishes more.

What is confirmed for GTA VI

Rockstar's pre-order post of 24 June 2026 describes the game as a single player experience, coming 19 November to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The post says nothing about cheats or an online mode.

The same goes for the game page and the platforms support article. We found no Rockstar page that announces an online mode for VI. Our crossplay page covers the same gap.

So there is nothing to say about cheats in an online mode, because no online mode is announced for them to work in.

What GTA V did

This section is about Grand Theft Auto V, not VI.

The cheat codes were a story mode feature. PCGamesN states that none of them work in GTA Online (PCGamesN). GTABoom's FAQ says the cheats only work in the single player part of the game (GTABoom).

We did not find a first party Rockstar sentence on this, so our sources for it are the two guides above.

If a code seems to do nothing, being in GTA Online is the first thing to rule out. The other causes are on how to enter cheats in GTA 6.

A cheat code is not a cheat menu

Rockstar's Mod Guidelines, dated 10 September 2026, say not to create, share or use cheat menus or other software that interferes with Rockstar's multiplayer or online services.

That is about third party tools. The guidelines do not mention Grand Theft Auto VI, and they do not mention cheat codes built into the games. Our page on mods covers them in full. Vicedex does not host cheat menus or any other software.

What we will do on 19 November

We will check on a retail copy whether the game has any cheat entry at all, and what it does around online features. Awards are covered at do GTA 6 cheats disable trophies, and the verified list is at GTA 6 cheats.
