Yes, the Series S is a supported console. Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for Xbox Series X|S, which covers both Series S and Series X. How it performs on each is not announced, and there is no Xbox One version.

What is confirmed for GTA VI
Rockstar's game page lists two platforms for 19 November 2026: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Microsoft sells the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X as two consoles, and the shared name covers both.
The Xbox store listing says "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S". Neither it nor the Xbox game page treats the two consoles differently. Microsoft's page on the label says it means the developer has done extra work to use the consoles' capabilities, and that specific enhancements vary by game.
So the Series S is a supported console, and what the game looks like on it has not been announced.
What Microsoft says about the two consoles
These are Microsoft's figures for the hardware, not statements about VI. They show why people ask.
| Item | Xbox Series S | Xbox Series X |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 10GB | 16GB |
| Storage options | 512GB or 1TB | 1TB or 2TB |
| Gaming resolution | 1440p | True 4K |
What has been said about weaker hardware
We found nothing from Rockstar about Series S specifically. Take-Two's chief executive has spoken about it once. Strauss Zelnick was asked on the 6 November 2024 earnings call whether it would be hard to run bigger games such as GTA VI on weaker hardware like the Series S. Kotaku and Video Games Chronicle reported his answer: "I'm not really worried." He added that Take-Two's labels are good at supporting platforms despite different levels of tech.
That was a chief executive's view in 2024, two years before launch. It is not a setting, a frame rate or a promise of identical visuals.
The only frame rate in circulation is a report. Kotaku (27 August 2026) and VGC (28 August 2026) said Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told the YouTuber Davy Jones that the consoles run the game at 30 frames per second in development. Nelson reportedly said a 60 frames per second option needed checking with the technical team, and that he had no resolution details. VGC said its report did not discuss the Xbox versions in particular. So no Series S or Series X figure is confirmed. For the PlayStation side, see GTA 6 on PS5 Pro.
Storage on Series S
Rockstar has published no download size, so nobody can yet say how much room the game needs: see GTA 6 file size. Rockstar support says digital pre-orders can start pre-loading from local midnight on 12 November 2026. Xbox Support says the Storage Expansion Card behaves like the internal drive.
Xbox One
Not supported. The platform lists on Rockstar's game page and on the Xbox store listing name Xbox Series X|S and no older console. The full answer is on is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One. Cheat pages for the console are at GTA 6 cheats on Xbox, and the subscription question is on is GTA 6 on Game Pass.
Verified. Not guessed. Any Series S resolution or frame rate you see for GTA 6 today is a guess, because Rockstar and Microsoft have published none. This page is updated when Rockstar publishes more.
