Leonida Keys in GTA 6: what Rockstar has confirmed

The Leonida Keys are an island chain in Grand Theft Auto VI, one of six places Rockstar Games has named in the state of Leonida, and Rockstar describes them as easy-going on land and dangerous on the water.

What Rockstar says it is

The Keys sit in the Places part of Only in Leonida on Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto VI site. Rockstar heads the entry Gateway to Paradise: "The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded."

The description says life in this tropical archipelago is not flashy but is easy, invites you to get a drink and take a deck chair, then adds the warning. The water around the islands is, in Rockstar's words, among the most beautiful and most dangerous in America.

Where it sits in the state of Leonida

Offshore, reached across water. Rockstar's caption for one still describes a seaplane over the Keys with a road bridge linking two islands behind it, the only official hint at how they connect.

Two published biographies place people here. Rockstar says Jason Duval ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners, and describes Brian Heder as a smuggler from the golden age of Keys trafficking, still moving goods through his boat yard. No official text ties Lucia Caminos to the islands.

What the official material shows

Rockstar's own captions for its Keys stills describe an iguana walking in front of a mobility scooter, a beach bar with a man asleep at a picnic table among empty bottles, and two scuba divers among coral, fish, an eel and a sea turtle.

Neither trailer description mentions the Keys. Trailer 1 introduced the state of Leonida in December 2023, and Trailer 2 opened on Vice City in May 2025. The named places were published separately.

What we do not know yet

Rockstar has not published a map, a scale, or how many islands the chain contains. It has not named a settlement or marina there, or explained what makes the water dangerous. No diving, fishing or boating mechanic has been announced.

The other named places, including the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia, are on the locations index. See also the countdown page and GTA 6 cheats.
