Jason Duval in GTA 6: what Rockstar has confirmed

Jason Duval is one of the two characters Rockstar Games puts at the centre of Grand Theft Auto VI, alongside Lucia Caminos, and his official biography runs to a few sentences.

Who Rockstar says he is

Jason appears in the People part of Only in Leonida on Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto VI site. Rockstar's headline for him is that he "wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder".

Rockstar says he grew up among grifters and crooks, served a stint in the Army to get clear of a troubled adolescence, then ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners. It adds that it might be time to try something else.

On Lucia, Rockstar stays non-committal: meeting her could be the best or the worst thing that has happened to him, and it is too early to tell which.

Where he sits in the state of Leonida

In the Keys, on his own biography. Rockstar's entry for the Leonida Keys describes an easy-going archipelago beside dangerous water. Two other biographies connect to him: Cal Hampton is called his friend, and Brian Heder, a veteran Keys smuggler, lets Jason stay in one of his properties in return for help with local shakedowns.

What the official material shows

Rockstar's own captions for its published stills describe Jason fishing on a boat with Cal, sitting on a motorcycle holding a handgun, and aiming an automatic weapon. Its edition pages list clothing and a personalised pistol for him, the closest the official material comes to saying he is a player character.

Neither trailer description names him. Trailer 1 introduced the state of Leonida in December 2023. Trailer 2 opened on Vice City in May 2025 and set out the shared story: an easy score goes wrong, and a conspiracy runs across the state.

What we do not know yet

Rockstar has not published his age, his voice actor, or how much of the game is played as him. It has not described a switch between the two characters, or said whether either one leads. The conspiracy is unnamed.
