Cal Hampton in GTA 6: what Rockstar has confirmed

Cal Hampton is Jason Duval's friend in Grand Theft Auto VI, and Rockstar Games' official biography paints him as a paranoid homebody who listens in on the Coast Guard with a few beers to hand.

Who Rockstar says he is

Cal appears in the People part of Only in Leonida on Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto VI site. Rockstar's headline for him is a question: "What if everything on the internet was true?"

Rockstar calls him Jason's friend and a fellow associate of Brian's. It says he feels safest at home, snooping on Coast Guard communications with a few beers and some private browser tabs open.

The second paragraph puts him "at the low tide of America and happy there". Rockstar adds that casual paranoia loves company, but that his friend Jason has bigger plans.

Two lines on the page are set as quotations, without saying who speaks them: "There are way too many birds flying around in perfect formation" and "The psychopaths are in charge. Get used to it."

Where he sits in the state of Leonida

His biography names no place. It mentions two people, Jason and Brian. Jason Duval works for drug runners in the Keys, on his own biography, and Brian Heder, the Keys smuggler Cal is an associate of, lets Jason stay at one of his properties. That puts Cal among people Rockstar ties to the Leonida Keys, but Rockstar does not say where Cal himself lives.

What the official material shows

Cal appears in six of the stills on Only in Leonida, and Rockstar's own captions describe them. In four he is with Jason: fishing on a boat, with Jason holding a rod and Cal holding binoculars; at a bar with beers while two men look their way; playing pool in a bar; and walking side by side, each carrying a duffel bag.

The other two are his alone. One shows him playing mini golf with another man on a course decorated with fake alligators. The other shows him lying on a flamingo float in a pool, surrounded by floating cans.

What we do not know yet

Rockstar has not published Cal's age, his voice actor, or whether he can be played. It has not said what Jason's bigger plans are, what Cal does for Brian, or how much of the story he is part of.
